Many celebrities are expecting a little bundle of joy in 2012. With that brings baby shower fun! In March before the arrival of baby Maxwell, Mindy Weiss (event planner to the stars) organized Jessica Simpson’s Charlotte’s Web theme.
Giuliana Rancic was surprised by her colleagues at E! with a neutral green/yellow baby shower shortly after the happy couple announced they were expecting via a gestational surrogate. Watch Giuliana’s Surprise Baby Shower; E! Online Video
Giuliana is having another shower with the theme “Pink or Blue: What do you think?” Looks like they’re going to be revealing whether it’s a boy or girl at the party on Father’s Day! (Update: It’s a boy!)
Having more than one baby shower is definitely a celebrity trend. Kourtney Kardashian also had two showers in honor of her baby girl. Scott Disick and the Disick family hosted the first shower, a private family affair without any cameras rolling, in NY at the Stonewalls Restaurant. The second was hosted by momager Kris Jenner at the Jenner Calabasas home. It was a completely pink themed event with nothing less than pink flamingos and Dolly’s pink Cotton Candy.
I recently hosted a baby shower for my sister and was inspired by celebrities for a few activities. It’s a surprise if they’re having a boy or girl, and they’re still undecided about names. Since we had all the girls together for a party, I thought it would be a great idea to get everyone to help come up with baby names for the expecting parents. I set up a jar and pink/blue index paper for everyone to write their name suggestions. For help brainstorming, I left out a Huffington Post Celebrity name guide and a baby names book.
Stars seem to come up with unforgettable and crazy, unique baby names. So for a little celeb inspired fun, I created a game for everyone to match the baby name with the celebrity mom name. Whoever guessed the most correct won a swag bag full of fun beauty products just like the stars receive at award shows. The cover of the game was a mock US Weekly Magazine cover. I placed pictures of pregnant celebs on the cover with a featured picture of my sister and her husband (as pretend reality stars). The reactions on everyone’s faces when I passed out the game were priceless.
Another activity was guessing the sex and birthday of the baby. I passed around a calendar at the party and had everyone write their predictions. We created a poem to serve as the instructions for the calendar.
Pink for a girl. Blue for a boy. When’s the arrival of the bundle of joy?
Pick a date and write your name. Let’s see who will win this guessing game.
At the end when the calendar was completed, it was a tie for guesses between boy and girl. Can’t wait to meet my niece or nephew next month and find out who guessed correctly!
Celebrities were also an inspiration for background music. On iTunes, I found instrumental lullaby renditions of popular rock and pop hits, including songs from Madonna, Lady Gaga, Pink!, Guns ‘n Roses, Coldplay, Jason Mraz, Journey, Bon Jovi, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, etc. In case you’re interested in finding these songs for the baby in your life, here’s the titles of the albums I used: Twinkle Twinkle Little Rockstar, Twinkle Twinkle Little Pop Star- Pop Star Baby, Baby Blanket Music, Baby Lullabies 101, Rockabye Baby Lullaby Renditions, Lullaby Rock – Lullaby Renditions of Rock Classics, and Rock Piano Lullabies.
Other non-celeb related items we made for the party were recreated from ideas found on my new obsession Pinterest. I pinned a lot of great ideas on my Pinterest baby shower board, but ran out of time to make them all. Here’s a few we couldn’t pass up. The baby stroller fruit tray, a bassinet diaper cake centerpiece, and the “Very Hungry Caterpillar” cupcake cake. Take a look at my pins or follow my boards at http://pinterest.com/micib26/
The cake was on a table full of baby books to go along with our theme of building baby’s library that we announced in our shower invitation poem below. I deleted my sister’s names in case you want to copy the poem and insert your own details.

While bump watch will always be in effect in Hollywood for A-listers, my sister will be the first in our family to have a baby, so I had to find fun, creative ideas for the party. I’m glad I was able to incorporate her interest in celebrity life into her shower. What was your favorite idea?
