The iconic shoe brand Christian Louboutin is famous with celebrities for its signature red bottom.
Blake Lively is such a huge fan of the brand, that she was given the entire Spring 2012 collection from Christian Louboutin. That’s one lucky shoe lover!
The Louboutin red sole is actually related to nail polish. It was created by Christian Louboutin after he saw an employee painting her nails red. He grabbed the red polish, painted a shoe bottom red and the rest is history!
With the popularity of Louboutins, get inspired for Manicure Monday as Adele did at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Create your own Adele Louboutin manicure in just four steps with the help of Ciaté:
“1. Coat the top and underside of your nails with Underwear base coat to re-hydrate the nail and lay the perfect foundation for a long-lasting finish.
2. Paint the underside of your nails with our pillar box red Mistress shade, creating the iconic Louboutin red sole.
3. Apply two coats of Jewel to the top of the nail to mimic the glitsy and glam show stopping stiletto.
4. Finally, layer both sides of the nail with Ciate’s fast drying top coat – Speed Coat – to seal in the colour and give an ultra glossy Louboutin finish.”
Ciaté has a gift set available with all of these nail polish shades for convenience in recreating the look, but you can also work with colors you have at home: a clear base coat, the top nail color of your choice, a bold red for the bottom of the nails, and a clear topcoat. You can switch up the nail color on the top side of your nails to make it your own, but for that signature Louboutin red sole, leave the underside red.
For a visual demonstration on recreating a Louboutin manicure, check out the video below. The video uses fake nails to achieve the long length of the nail, but you can obviously follow the steps above if you’re lucky enough to have healthy, long nails that can reveal that red sole.
